--who escaped the backyard fence to my heavily wooded surroundings at the time. My sister went out to desperately call for him and heard whimpers and "whacking" sounds way out in the areas beyond my house. Eventually, she saw the poor baby with a commercial plastic mayo jar stuck on his head and literally dripping the remaining rancid, dripping mayonnaise over his face and shoulders, blindly stumbling in the brush.

That poor, poor pup--probably the sweetest dog I ever owned, never went after another perceived "treat" like that again--fortunately. That episode still brings a knowing smile thinking back. Dogs are just the best--even when they don't mean to be.

So glad that little bear cub likewise found loving people to help him.
