Do chipmunks eat carrots?

I googled them and it said they eat vegetation. Carrots are vegetation no? There is a chipmunk living around my porch in front of my apartment, and he is eating the bird food I put out. Thought I'd give him some variety. Don't all rodents eat carrots? I put some out this morning and so far he hasn't touched them.

1. They can. It doesn't mean they will. Nuts, berries, bugs, grains, etc. typically good for them

next time I go to the store. I love feeding animals, my birds are eating me out of house and home. I tried feeding my neighbor, but he got all freaked out thinking I was trying to put the make on him.

I used to buy those baby carrots to give them for treats.

6. I'd say they would maybe eat the greens. I don't think they normally dig for food like roots,

so they might not know what to make of carrots. Maybe cutting them into small chunks might do it?

9. A cottontail family has appeared in my backyard.

I give them fresh water in the morning and at night but never thought about supplementing their diet with an occasional carrot.

The carrots were always gone by the next day.
