I thought maybe I’m just sleeping soundly but my neighbors haven’t heard anything either.

A LOT, so I haven’t noticed any fireworks. The window unit ac blocks the gunfire noise for the cats, who were not pleased with all the banging when we moved in.

7. We moved into our house on July5th 17 years ago.

The guy one street to the East is a fireworks enthusiast, even though they were then illegal in this state. They kept up, night after night after night. Finally, in mid August, on a night when I might have been a wee bit toasted, they started again. I went out on the deck, facing east, and yelled:

THE FOURTH WAS SIX WEEKS AGO. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE IT A REST!

It did taper off, but I discovered the next year they usually started in June, and went until Labor Day. For some reason, the last couple of years have been relatively quiet.

some asshole was setting them off in the street in front of the house next door (the house is unoccupied due to remodelling so it wasn't the occupant). It went on for a long time.

And my city is supposedly very intolerant of fireworks of any kind. I wish...

Fortunately they are a couple of streets away, but the whole neighborhood feels a little like Vicksburg in late June 1863.

Usually by now they're going off from dusk to midnight. But this year almost nothing. Well still have 2 more days and the holiday weekend crowd hasn't arrived yet.
