Damn, I think I just broke a little toe.

Stubbed it against some furniture, said a bunch of bad words, then noticed it was out of alignment so I taped it to the fourth toe. Since I don't wear shoes and don't go anywhere I can let it be and heal on its own. I'm not going to see a doctor about something so minor, but it was careless of me to not watch where I was walking and it hurts.

You'll sit in the waiting room for an hour, then in an exam room for anther half hour and s/he will tape it to the toe next to it and send you home. You just did what any Dr would do without the wait.

I’ve done the same. Hurts like hades, looks all crooked and gets a nice bruise. Don’t blame you for not going to the doc. You are doing what they’d do. Just keep it taped up for a few weeks and it will be as good as new! Hope your pinkie toe doesn’t hurt too much!

But instead I’ll say ouch, and I’m awfully sorry, sounds painful.

Maybe it’s not broken? With any hope it heals soon.

Maybe ice it?

PS better call a toe truck!

(Sorry..!)

Hope it mends.

You know the old adage that good news sleeps till noon? So I knew something was serious when I got an early morning call.

Scrambling out of bed I had to rush to the other room half asleep to answer the phone.

I will never forget standing at my kitchen counter amidst the dreaded death notice phone call and looking down at my foot. The pinky toe was skewed off at an unnatural angle. And the thought that went through my head was "that is going to hurt like hell when I actually wake up."

I did the same you did but I didn't feel it actually pop back into place until I was at the funeral several days later.

Ouch! I feel your pain! I could have written this exact thing three and a half weeks ago! Except my toe was sticking out sideways. Sorry for the visual. I was using a cane for a couple of days and I've only been able to walk normal for the last 3 days. It feels good to walk again. I used tons of ice!! I still have it taped and I'll continue to do that for another couple of weeks just to be on the safe side.

Actually, I haven't broken one in several years, so I'm overdue.

Anyway, it's been my experience with broken toes that alternating between shoes and no shoes tends to minimize the pain. The support a shoe gives is good for a few hours, then it starts hurting again, so taking the shoe off feels better until it starts to hurt again.

Ice, Ice, Ice.
Ice for two weeks. The first week, ice four to six times a day, each time until it feels numb, if you can stand doing it that long. It helps speed up the healing a lot.
Keep it elevated as much as you can.

Speaking from experience....probably broken six or seven toes in my young 62 years.
Take care!

Before you go to bed. Ice it and keep it propped up.

Broke my 2nd and 3rd toes a few years ago. Taped them up and felt fine, but pain set in overnight, and so I got no sleep. They're fine now.

I hope it feels better tomorrow!

2nd and 3rd toes would be a lot worse; the little toe is kind of useless anyhow.

They took an x-ray and the doctor told me that people would be shocked to find out how many times they had broken a toe. Yup, just taped it to the next one.

I have never broken my toe, but have forcefully stubbed it many times and it hurts like hell. Take care and use ice to keep the inflammation down. A pint of your favorite ice cream can also help to take the sting away.

Foot caught on the leg of a chair right between the 4th and 5th toe.

I was recovering from back surgery and my home care aide was walking right behind me!!

I could not bear any weight on the foot for six weeks. Finally, my pain specialist ordered epidurals.

Even after the epidurals, I was left with neuropathy in that foot (Abnormal nerve conduction studies). I had hard time finding foot wear too. It really sucked.
