For those wishing facebook's demise:

You might get your wish.

They messed up their Desktop/PC interface. I just tried sharing the Denture Stealing Dog Video and it won't share. I also tried sharing some petitions and they wouldn't share.

Now the site is a resource hog
Argghhh.....

Right now this stupid ad is pretty much taking up my entire FB screen on my computer:

And when I click on the notification icon, I get only the stupid single post and a big ole white screen...what a waste of space! I have to go to the home screen before I can start scrolling again...How lame!

It is the only way I can keep up with most of my friends who don't live near me. NONE of my friends live near me in the blood red Trump America where I live. Most of them lucked up and moved away or weren't from here and were met other ways. So, FB messing up is not a good thing for me. I'm going to be systematically isolated while Zuckerberg kisses Trump's ass and makes everything as right wing as he can. I wish someone would buy FB from him and make it what those of us who landed there want it to be, instead of the neglected clusterfuck it is.

I wonder how many one night only "glitches" and other problems are going to happen on Facebook during the elections to hamper people from sharing when their voting rights are violated come November. I'm calling it. I'm predicting it now. Something like that is going to happen to either Facebook or Twitter or both during the elections. They are going to pull out all the stops this year to hamper voting rights.

I'm trying to think of a way to not rely on Facebook so much for communicating any more. That is our best bet.

2. It's like the New Google Sites

I had a great site in Old Google Sites, then they went all weird...with drab layout and no search engine optimization. Hello??? You're Google, but you don't want me to be found on Google..Right.....???

Fortunately, I have an old site and was able to add new pages, so I have a decent site using the Old Google Sites, but jeez, why do they do stuff like this?

I am SOOO sick of Facebook; it utterly sickens me how many people have been sucked into the FB Borg. ESPECIALLY EGREGIOUS seeing DUers participating.

4. If it were not for FB I would not have learned of the deaths
Wed Jul 8, 2020, 03:31 AM

of several friends. By which I mean I would now, several years later, possibly not had any clue those people had died.

I have had the experience several times, including one very close to me, that the FB announcement of the death was crucial in letting a lot of people know.

Think about it.

I will say this. Were it not for Facebook, it would have taken months, maybe even years, to inform people of the death of the person I'm thinking of, someone close to me. But with FB, all of his friends learned of it very quickly, and when ten days after his death, a memorial service was held, some 200 people attended. Without FB? Maybe 20. If that many. And for months afterwards his friends would have been learning of his death.

So, if you want to trash FB, go ahead. But I've seen the value of it.

6. I like FB. It's my life line. I created my/own local Democrats page

I'm a precinct chair and it's a quick way to get involved in events...One click and invite...

Before FB, I was a bit of an introvert, now with all these activities, I haven't a moment to spare. (Well, at least before Covid)

It's so easy. The phone app is still good. But since I have my own page, and I'm personally creating events and adding graphics, I really need to use my computer...argh....

I hope they fix it!!!!

Here's part of my local Democrats Page.
The pic in the upper left is when Beto O'Rourke came to our neighborhood.
It was so exciting for Beto to come to this little park!! (The park is only 10 years old and was created with love) And Beto came to it! Of course, it was announced on Facebook. We had quite a crowd!!

My wife uses it. The things some of my "family" say on that platform make me think it would be better NOT to keep up with friends and family. I'm ok with just hanging out with my wife and kids exclusively. I'm also an introverted hermit, so maybe that's why the Facebook cruise ship left me back on the island.

She does get to see how many of her acquaintances in her hobby are racist Trumper pigs, so she is far more cautious dealing with them.
