I think raccoons are fantastic animals. I just don't think they should be domesticated. Fla Dem Jul 2020 #4

Keep them as pets. I've renewed my appreciation for them.

We don't see much of our local little bandits since our little gray foxes have moved into their territory. Competition for food perhaps?

But our rabbits are back - the big ones are larger than the little gray foxes. And 2 days ago we saw a young momma deer with a tiny newborn who could barely walk in our back. ❤ Wildlife.

Thanks for posting this, Bayard.

You rock.

They are always going to be wild animals. Better to watch in cute video's.

We trap them because,
1..They eat all the barn cat's food, the duck feed, and anything else they can get their little raccoon lips on. We have to lock up everything at night.
2..They are an intermediate host for EPM, a protozoan infection of the central nervous system in horses. I have one undergoing treatment now. There is no vaccine.
3.. They will attack and eat small ducks and chickens.
