Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsJust called my credit union about my escrow statement...
numbers did not add up. Their numbers on the escrow statement are different from 1. MY paid numbers and 2. THEIR paid numbers on their website (loan history etc).
The rep was so confused. Well, that's precisely why I'm calling.
Thirty three minutes, cat & mouse, and then he hung up accidentally BUT he called right back.
Verdict: he put in a request to have the numbers analyzed and also credited me for overpayments that did not show up.
I'm happy with that.

(7,638 posts)You are lucky its a credit union where its unlikely they are trying to screw you . Many predatory loan servicers are out there. A few years ago our mortgage was
sold from a major bank (suntrust) to a sketcky loan servicer (ditech) even thought I had 800 credit and never been late. I kept an eye on them like an hawk because they were known to pull tricks to saddle you with penalties. We ended up refinancing at some point and back with a major reputable lender.

OH DITECH! They were the worst! We had our original loan from Suntrust bought by them and they were godawful. Just the mention of the name makes me shiver.

(60,010 posts)and now my servicer is New Rez but in fact it is just Ditech with a new name #3.
Original mortgage was Countrywide, it went bankrupt, then BOA had the mortgage...are they even around anymore? then Ditech bought a bunch of BOA paper, because of new banking rules ( than you Eliz Warren!!!)
Luckily I was able to put enough down on the house to avoid escrow and home insurance, so they can't/haven't fucked with the payment numbers.
I am kinda curious how mortgage servicers are holding up in this changed economy, tho.

(21,830 posts)She continued making payments to the original mortgage holder, and they continued to accept her payments without comment.
It was not until she made her last payment that she found out she had been paying the wrong company for two years.
In the meantime, her mortgage had been bundled up and sold again, to a third company, again without her knowledge.
Apparently, all three of these companies had screwed up records. She had to hire a lawyer and took a year to sort this mess out.
In the end, she was credited properly for the payments made to the wrong company.
Today she keeps the title to her property in a safe deposit box.
