Cephalanthus occidentalis .... a great native wetland plant. Good for pollinators, butterflies, and birds.

Especially for wet and or damp areas. Nice flower and good fall color too.

My wife teaches microbiology. She is going to use the picture in her class and she was really hoping someone here would identify the plant. Again, DU comes through!

I've been gradually replacing all my non-native plants with natives of the Virginia Piedmont, where I live. They support insects which are essential when birds feed their nestlings.

Plant 2 ... better fruit set. Great Fall color with the fruits and leaves. Good for all
kinds of local/native critters.
