I hope these birds are native to where they are being released. If not, they are sitting ducks for predators.

At a market in China, she bought a pigeon that would have been destined for someone's dinner plate, took it to the park and released it into a flock of pigeons that lived there.

That practice is confined mainly to certain areas of south China. Hopefully the infamous Yulin dog meat festival will soon be a thing of the past.

For the entire 6wks I was there if I thought they did. (Most of our time was spent in & traveling around Shanghai, except for a few days in Beijing. We've friends in Shanghai.)
