A rodeo horse once did that to me. When the owner saw it, he yanked the horse away.

There are those that think working animals should never receive love. Hunting dogs that stay chained to dog houses in back yards, horses that only get training, never kindness. I have always found that when you show an animal kindness, they give it back 10 fold and will do anything to please you. Almost every dog or cat I ever owned was a rescue.
