Keep it up. My Mom quit when she got a really bad case of pneumonia and she stayed quit. But if she was at a party and someone was smoking, she would sidle over for a whiff.

She passed away in 2008, but never went back to smoking.

I'm sure if you noted how much that guy was paying for his carton of Marlboros - and maybe calculated how much $$$ you are saving, that's an added bonus.

Have you had the dream where you are smoking and you wake up disappointed in yourself until you realize it was a dream?

Congrats on your terrific accomplishment!

I went with Nicolette gum, but then got hooked on that. Took quite a while to shake that bad habit.

who cannot even remember the year I actually quit. It took me forever, starting and stopping over and over again. I will never do anything as hard as that was. Good luck, remember if you start back up it gets harder to quit, or it was for me. I probably quit part of every year for a decade. Makes me glad I like to drink but not get drunk or mess around with some other things and not get blasted out of my mind. I am an easy addict.

I am so happy you are doing this. As long as I have been here you have been here (you were here before I think) and I feel like you are an old friend and I want to you know the joys of taking a good deep breath again without feeling that strange, icky feeling in your chest. Sending many vibes of support.

Great job, Underpants!

I'm still 164 days without a cigarette and I'm still walking several times a days, getting my tootsie roll fix and chewing gum.

Hats off to you!! Hip hip hooray!!

I’m guessing from the day count.

It’s funny. I almost never think about it. Going back into the office twice a week (starting last week) has triggered it more than anything.

I purchased my supply from a local reservation where a carton is about $12.00.

I had a brand that I smoked regularly for years. They started playing games with the sizes of the cigarettes from regular to 100's. I want the regular size, not the 100's. I purchased another brand for awhile and they changed the sizes on those. The 3rd or 4th brand that I purchased were so strong, that I ended up coughing and I was literally gagging. I've been smoking for 23 years and I said to myself, that's it...I'm done. I went cold turkey.

Since it wasn't planned, I'm not sure if my last day was Jan. 31st or Feb 1st, I always pick the later date since I'm not sure.

I have friends who have quit smoking (VERY few, actually, as I live in Europe, and most who used to smoke still smoke). Those who successfully quit tell me that it takes YEARS before the compulsion disappears completely. You have arrived a difficult milestone on what will be a difficult long journey. Bravo for having started, and bravo for having gotten this far! Many do not.
