Anyone ever read Heinlein's "The Year of the Jackpot"...?

...a short story from 1951, and as compulsively readable as all his, at least, early work was. A man who collects information on trends and long-term cycles realizes that all of them are coming together at once, in one year--the "jackpot". There are plagues, wars, social breakdown, you-name-it. Just maybe, that year was 2020... And on a cheerful, reassuring note, the year in the story ends with the sun going nova, destroying the world...I don't think reality has to follow fiction *that* much...

I think it ruined statistics for me since I never wanted to see graphs come together like in that story.
