Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI received one of the best compliments ever the other day.
I got gas at a full serve station the other day. I know it's surprising they even exist anymore, but there is one in my area.
I had no cash on me, so I asked the woman who pumped my gas if I could put a $5 tip for her on my credit card.
She said that was not allowed, and that me smiling at her was a good enough tip.
I asked her how she knew I was smiling since I had a mask on, and she said she could see the smile in my eyes.
I started stammering like a fool. That seemed like one of the nicest things anyone ever said to me.

(26,259 posts)We kept passing each other, throughout the store. On the last encounter, he looked at me and said how nice it was to be able to tell I was still smiling, even though I was wearing a mask. I told him I was thinking the exact same thing about him.
I love hearing about situations that show there is still some warmth left in the world.

(2,684 posts)wearing a mask is part of the job (this was long before it was an infridgement of muh freedumbs). After awhile you develop a communication with your eyes.

There's nothing in the world better-suited to making your heart glow than an sincere, unsolicited compliment.
I'm happy for you.

(17,425 posts)I essentially never get compliments like that one and I was totally unprepared to respond.
