well then my late husband was a nerd.. agingdem Jul 2020 #1
Thank you for the laugh! chillfactor Jul 2020 #2
yeah, but a *real* nerd would correct you and say acceleration, not velocity ;) unblock Jul 2020 #3
Thank you. Aristus Jul 2020 #4
Not if the Force is gravity VMA131Marine Jul 2020 #5
If you drop an object, it accelertes due to the force of gravity DBoon Jul 2020 #9

Change of acceleration over time I think is called "jerk". For example: JustABozoOnThisBus Jul 2020 #13

mass times velocity is momentum, not force.

My worst problem when I was in school is that I was a nerd, but not even a good-grades nerd. I was just a misfit...

You have a weight attached to a rubber band.

The weight is motionless.

The rubber band has a "pull" force that exactly cancels gravity.

You snip the rubber band, the weight falls.

You magically make gravity vanish, the weight pulls up from the force of the rubber band.

The force vectors cancel each other when combined.

See? This is why I rely on my fellow Loungers. We keep each other on the rails.

The White House is full of accelerations changing over time.
