For those who who have seen the play on Disney + or had the good fortune of seeing the live play. I know a lot of debate has been made of the Eliza Gasp/cry at the end of the play. I have heard a lot of the debate and have heard Lin Manuel Miranda as well as the actresses who have played Eliza talk about it. But I want to look at the moment before the gasp.
Was it Hamilton taking Eliza's hand and directing her to the audience? Or was Lin Breaking Character and guiding Eliza to see the actual audience?
My own crazy views is that it is 1 of 2 ideas.
The First It is Hamilton meeting Eliza in Heaven and showing her the Past Present and future and how her work would be a part of history.
Sometimes I watch it and I think it is Lin taking Eliza's hand and allowing her to see the future audience listening to Hamilton's story. Which is not only amazing but frightening moment for her.

(10,053 posts)I think she is seeing Alexander because the last chorus she sings is "Oh, I can't wait to see you again, it's only a matter of time".
The other thing I was thinking about was this: when I heard her sing that last song about how proud she was of her accomplishments (the orphanage) along with who remembers your name when you're gone and tells your story was : omg maybe Hamilton (the title of the musical) is for Eliza Hamilton, not Alexander. The story begins with him but ends, literally and figuratively with her.

(15,089 posts)And didnt particularly analyze it. I must say, though, that Hamilton alone was worth the price of Disney +.

(60,010 posts)As I tend to do with most good vids. Found it a bit confusing the first time around, got the plot idea but not all the songs.
Quality of the show is superb.
2nd time around, with lyrics noted, and now I have a copy. Loved the direction it took with all inclusive casting and modern music.
Some people said they didn't like the "rap" stuff. They are missing out. The future just ran over them.
