I am cutting back on my Pregabaliin and will eventually seek other medication for my nerve pain.

I simply can't be so cloudy-minded all the time, unable to drive for fear of an accident, unable to stay awake all day (napping mid morning), foggy brained.

Doc said not to abruptly stop taking it. So I am taking my evening dose so I can sleep (without pain). I have found that I am drinking endless cups of coffee to offset the drowsy effect of the drug. That's not normal. And I have gone up a size in my clothes. I hate dragging around those extra pounds...

Mr WT has intense nerve pain in his feet. Not all the time, but when it comes, he is in misery.

annoying (my hands fall asleep if I read in bed for instance).

I don't know how long I have to taper off. That is my doc's call.

Not at the same time, as magnesium inhibits uptake of other nutrients / meds for 2 hrs. So I take B vits in morning & the magnesium at bedtime.

Magnesium allows muscles to relax & methyl form of B-12 has been shown in research to potentially be helpful with neuropathy pain.

I've never tried the meds, but I have horrible burning, numbness & sharp, stabbing pains in feet.

Guess I should switch my routine. I'm on metformin so it depletes B vits over time. Doc recommended an OTC vitamin that has gobs of B vits (especially B12) called Multibetic. I've been taking it *with* my magnesium and 5000 D3. Trying to get my D3 levels up since being diagnosed with osteopenia.

This is why I take magnesium just before bed.

Any metal supplement will inhibit uptake of other nutrients - 2 hrs before taking mag & 2 hrs after!

So, if you eat lunch or take meds at noon & take magnesiumz zinc, etc. at 1pm, you will not get the full benefit of nutrients & meds.

Not familiar with your condition. I'll google it!

Also, if you take fish oil, I just read that you must have sufficient B vitamins to get the benefit of fish oil.

Sublingual B12 is best as many people are deficient in something that allows for uptake through digestion. Also, older folks do not always get the full benefit if taken in through digestive tract.

Btw, I'm not a med professional, I just read a lot. Lol

They say it takes about 2 years of taking metformin to see the degradation of your B levels. I’m 4 yrs in and they’ve just started to show some loss.

The osteopenia is the precursor to osteoporosis. I went into surgical menopause 14 years ago due to a total hysterectomy for endo cancer. They said 5000 units of D3/day and weight-bearing exercise for a year, then they’ll reevaluate.

You might want to look into methyl form of B-12 in sublingual form then. That's what I would do.

But continue with B complex, etc., as per doc. 👍
