Wow.

I remember my first run in with the police. I had taken a walk with some friends one fine Saturday morning and we did not come back home for a few hours (I was around 6 or so), this was in the early 60's, my mom had called the police and when I showed up there was a cop at the front door to the house and I thought nothing of it and approached as normal. Well, he scoop me up by my armpits and held me at arms length and shook the crap out of me while berating me and telling me how I had terrified my mother that someone had killed me. I was petrified.

After he put me down, I ran into the house and hid under the bed for the next 24 hours and would not come out.

I am still very "situationally aware" when there are police around me 50+ some odd years later. For a long time, I would shake when I saw a cop.

Be well.

I bet not one of these incidents required a beatdown to resolve.

even in the cities there are tens of thousands of interactions with the police that do not involve weapons or beat downs
