The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIt's my Beatles birthday! 64!
Probably worst birthday ever. Then again, everyone is having that kind of birthday this year. Thank goodness there is one good thing I can say about it. The Beatles wrote a song many years ago, and today I get to claim it as mine!
Please enjoy this song. I've been waiting to do this for many a year.
(I broke one, possibly more than one, teeth a few days ago, and I'm in considerable pain. Will probably not reply if there are any responses in here. Mostly, I just wanted everybody to enjoy a Beatles song!)

(130,533 posts)Sorry your birthday sucks; we have to hope next year will be better. It's my dad's birthday too; he'd have been 101.

(11,005 posts)As for the feeding part, I have to laugh at the irony. Of all days to not be able to eat something yummy, it's today. Was really looking forward to something hot and spicy this evening. Instead, I ate peanut butter! The sore teeth will only tolerate so much.
My dad would have celebrated his 101st birthday this year as well! I wish he could have been here to celebrate that day, but I'm glad he's not here to see what's been going on in the country.
Thank you for the birthday wishes!

(11,005 posts)When I woke up this morning, it hit me that next year I will be 65. And all I could think was, 'how in the heck did THAT happen?' I want to be 16 again. Way back when, when all the body parts still worked.
Instead I get to look forward to Medicare!
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes.

(11,005 posts)Then again, it's probably good that you didn't.
I think it was a bit embarrassing!
But it's the Beatles, so it's all good!
Thank you for putting another great song into my special day!

I'll be looking forward to giving you birthday wishes next month!

(11,155 posts)I am hoping to get a really good present on or just before, 10 PM that Tuesday would be nice. Want a similar present to the one I got in 2008. Though will have to wait until January 20th at Noon to fully appreciate it. WooHoo 94 days until my birthday!
And get off my lawn you rapscallions!

(11,005 posts)Not nearly as much as I should have. I guess I should have listened to the lyrics a little more closely.
But I'll get by, with a Little Help from My Friends.
Thank you for the birthday wishes.

I'm past 64 but still think I am 25 so here is a song for that:

Most days my brain thinks I'm about 17. Most days I act like I'm 12. But my body definitely knows it's 64. And then some! Seeing the dentist on Tuesday. For once I'm actually looking forward to going to the dentist.

and it just feels all the worse when you're hurting
hope you have something to help you ease the pain
(and remember mashed potatoes, warm soup and soggy crackers, pudding, yogart, and instant oatmeal, are your friends when it comes to fucked up teeth)
happy birthday (in spite of it all)
Dem2theMax
(11,005 posts)And I'm glad you reminded me about oatmeal. I have a ton of it in the house and for some reason I didn't think to start eating it! That will definitely help me get through the next few days.
And thankfully, I do have pain meds. Just took one a little while ago.

My dad, on the other hand, he never got out of his Army days schedule! And he was only in during World War II.
He never went to bed late. But we knew if he slept in, he wasn't feeling well.

(11,005 posts)I've always had this weird thing about wanting to die with all of my own teeth. I think it had something to do with watching my dad deal with dentures over the years.
Looks like I'll be going under the grass with at least one fake tooth. Oh well, that's life. At least I'm still on this side of the grass at this point in time.

(11,850 posts)I'm sorry that you're enduring dental pain on your birthday. I hope that you can see a dental professional soon to get that taken care of.
Dem2theMax
(11,005 posts)It works even when it's belated!
Going to the dentist on Tuesday. In the meantime, it's liquids and soft foods for me. And you know the second you can't eat anything solid is the second you are dying for something like a burger, or a yummy burrito filled with all kinds of goodies.
Someone gave me a box of See's Candy for my birthday. She had someone else pick it up so she didn't know what was inside of it. I had my fingers crossed that it was cream centers. So of course I open it up and it's all full of nuts. I can't even eat it! At least it won't go bad while it's waiting for me to recover. Lol!
Niagara
(11,850 posts)I'm happy to hear that you have a dental appointment made. It's no fun being in pain and not being able to eat solid food.
Once you get on the mend and healed, then you can dig into your birthday candy. Yum!
