(4,605 posts)Got the phone for $100 (a 6s, brand new, but its an older iPhone model) and the unlimited data plan is only $50 a month. The service is great, Im very happy with everything.
I refuse to get a contract because I hate cellphone companies. And ISPs. And cable companies. Ugh. Dealing with any of them is always a PITA.

(12,157 posts)I think this is the same people as TracFone. I recently bought an unlocked iPhone SE 2nd Generation and got a SIM card from Straight Talk. I have a bit of a problem as the only cell tower close to me is AT&T. I bought the iPhone originally from Straight Talk but it was locked to Verizon. So I sent it back and purchased my new pone from Apple direct.
Anyway the service is very good from Straight talk and no contract.

(86,536 posts)in rural land. But we do have Tracfone which I have used for over a decade. Burned through a bunch of flipfones. A few months ago I had to get another phone and the, get this, Radio Shack where I do all my phone services, only had these Galaxy smart phone things, which I hate more than flipfpnes. But they have an unlimited minutes and some amount of data for $20/mo. That's what I have and it's been okay. I turn everything off but the phone and text anyway. Might be a good plan, same company.

(43,049 posts)Been all over the northeast and only one problem with coverage (a spot in upstate NY with no coverage at all from anyone).
50 bucks includes virtually unlimited data, which I use to get laptops and tablets online when away from home.
There are cheaper ways out there, but I use the data a lot.
