I'm sure it's easy to get political about it, point fingers, blame, etc.
But it seems so pointless to do any of those things. They won't bring him back.
Here in Maryland, we thought we were doing all the right things. Taking the necessary precautions.
I feel such sadness for his three sisters. They must be feeling so much pain. They celebrated his birthday via Zoom.
To be Christian in this moment, to believe that there is an afterlife, can be a blessing in times of pain. And if not that, to pull out all of the wonderful memories to celebrate his life.
An amazing man. A black man. An older man. A statistic. It's just not right. But that changes nothing.

(6,321 posts)and I often agonize if I did the right choice raising kids as atheists. Moments like these make me question. I do feel that if not taught from very young age, it will be near impossible to believe later.

But, by god, there will come a time, swiftly soon, that a nations' outrage will reach such a height, that it will wash away the evil filth now letting this pandemic wreak havoc.
My son has had covid.
We are praying and hoping for the best.
For him, for all of us.
So sorry that this scourge has been visited upon your family.

Hope Dems don't cave on one thing. The right of the little guy to sue. They are hiding that.

(63,221 posts)I know there is not much I can say to take the pain away, but I want to express my sincere condolences to you and to your cousin's sisters. I can't even imagine what pain they must be feeling. I think about this all the time and when it is going to finally fall on my doorstep, or of those I know.
I know that pointing fingers won't bring anybody back, but better leadership could have saved lives, including your cousin's. That is what makes me so upset. There are so many people who have died needlessly and that is what is so tragic.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. I wish you peace and healing. May your cousin RIP.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
