This music is kinda retro (those two songs anyway), so I thought they might've made that choice.

Plus the sound of it to me just reminds me of what stuff recorded to tape sounds like.

I like the ones from Steven Slate, Waves, and IK Mulimedia. Great simulations of tape for digital productions. I def agree with you, these songs sound like they were recorded to tape.
