You're lucky if you can get them to eight years, and my heart just broke after each one passed. I can't imagine going through the passing of a pet every 2 to 3 years.

He was always a little nervous, given his background, but I had to save him, he was a very smart rat and he calmed down a lot the longer I had him. And my rat just went nuts for cheese!
