Friday Night Sobriety Sucks Thread.

Once more, I'm voluntarily giving up the various waters of life for a little while, for a number of reasons, mostly caloric.

All drink and no exercise makes Aristus a fat boy...

I love you all...

(And you thought I only said that when I was in my cups... )

Looks like you might have to spin some records or take a trip down the internet rabbit hole, read a book or head to bed early...

Since your laying off the calories, even a mocktail is out of the question.

YouTube can always be good for a diversion, I can always kill some time there looking at stupid cat videos or funny animals, music is always a big rabbit hole for me, once I start looking for music on YT, I can get lost for hours.

I meant to thank you, a couple months back during a late Friday night sesh you gave me some advice on my lawnmower, come to find out you nailed the problem on the head. It was a belt that had slipped. So thanks for that...you never know.

I not drinking for a few weeks at a time. Three or four weeks with intermittent fasting is dropping the pounds. Slowly but surely. Rewards come about once a month.. Turns out I'm a cheap date. One or two and I'm toast.......... hic.........

Fellow beer lover/ calorie avoider here. Non alcohol beer has far lower calories but generally at the expense of flavor.
Hooray for these exceptions!

-Clausthaler (Dry Hopped version). Available at many grocery stores including Safeway and TJs. These are so tasty a friend once grabbed one from the fridge without reading the label... drank the whole bottle, had no idea!

-Athletic Brewing Co. has many GREAT NA options. Even my spouse loves their Run Wild IPA. And Upside Dawn is a lovely golden ale. Their beers are a little spendy at about $2 a can, but worth it IMO, and free shipping with a subscription. And 70 calories!

I have a few other suggestions if anyone is interested.

I'm ok with once a month and get a really good flavorful beer. I stopped drinking for a few years and the temptation of drinking NA beer was too great so I just didn't. Also I have a whole MONTH to decide what beer to indulge in.. My standby is Guinness Export Ale... But a good 90 min Dogfish IPa is wonderful also. When I was in Ireland there are so many different local to Ireland variety's of Guinness that it made my head spin. The tour at St James Gate was a real treat..
LIke I said after a month one or two is my limit..YMMV

It could be a drink-worthy evening. I have a bottle of Bourbon that I may crack open that night.
