ATTENTION: Have you completed your census? If you have, Thank You very much!!

If you have not - Please do so ASAP!!

The nonresponder work ends Sept 30 unless we get an extension. Current administration wants an undercount. We do not want that since it impacts Redistricting at Federal and State levels, along with availability of Federal $$ for new schools, libraries, fire, ambulance and police stations. Growth in the past 10 years points to the areas which need these services.

We are told that in Texas we lose $14,000 of potential Federal funds for every uncensused household.

Enumerators are out on the streets, knocking on doors of nonresponders. Give them a helping hand and complete yours so they can concentrate on the rest and tell your friends and neighbors. You can complete it online. Tell them to please answer the door and talk to us or respond to the paper we leave behind.

If we come by and your census has been returned, instead of taking it out on the enumerator just tell him/her you completed it already, and if it was for your current residence or your prior one if you moved into the house after April 1 2020.

We can even census the residence you were in on or before April 1 if needed.

I returned to a house after 3 days and they had clipped the papers to the mailbox with a note in red marker: FILED ONLINE. Should you come home to our paperwork and your census is already completed, leave a similar note if possible - it was such a huge help that I left a thank you note!

If you live in an area with few English speaking households, and you are fluent in the language let them all know you will translate for them if needed. PLEASE assure them that we do not ask about citizenship. We do ask if they are HIspanic and if they say yes there are categories for their roots. They can refuse to answer that question.

Someone may come to your door to ask about a house nearby. You can give the information and we can accept it. That is a huge help!!!

I've been doing this since late August, in the 106 degree Texas heat and some fierce humidity. It isn't that much fun except for being a great reason to get out of the house for a few hours daily.

But a woman came to my door, tried to assure me it's illegal for anyone to grab the information from the Census, answered the nine questions. Now I don't have the guilt of shorting my community

Not sure why I got two - the address was the same on both but the code was different. Because I did check on the second one, no one has come to our house.
