https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/08/entertainment/venture-bros-canceled-trnd/index.htmlSo bummed. Checking out Reddit now to see if there are plans to save it, move to another network, something... anything! Last season was so damn good. The underlying questions were finally starting to be answered, long-running theories confirmed, and whats gonna happen to Hank?!
New seasons are something Ive looked forward to for years. A true bright spot of pure entertainment. I feel like crying. Ugh. I hate this year.

(25,839 posts)I don't happen to be familiar with the Venture Brothers, but did a quick Google search about them.
The point is, losing a series you love is a total bummer.

Its a smart parody of Johnny Quest, plus a whole lot more (Fantastic Four, GI Joe, Hardy Brothers, the old Hanna Barbera cartoons, and so many other comic book and cartoon characters). Its one of the funniest shows Ive ever seen. Its both sublimely absurd and wickedly witty, all at the same time. Its also a little Tarantino-esque, in that little details pop up much later (sometimes years later) to be something extremely important or meaningful. There is so much going on, its actually hard to adequately describe. It took me at least three watches through the series to catch everything and Im sure there are still jokes, bits of plot, and references Ive missed. The world building is second to none. Villains have a union of sorts, and henching is a legit job. The union (The Guild of Calamitous Intent), was led, for a time, by David Bowie. There are also lots of little references to Prog Rock, which pleases me greatly. I could go on and on...
In short, highly recommended and definitely binge-worthy! There are only 7 seasons, which took over 15 years to make. You have to start from the beginning or else it wont make much sense. Also, a warning: the animation in Season 1 isnt great, but the show get a major upgrade in Season 2.
Thank you for your condolences. I hope they at least do a two hour special to wrap everything up. Last season ended with a couple cliffhangers.

(25,839 posts)which is clearly my loss.
I do NOT want to come across as denigrating the show. I am not. I just don't happened to be familiar with it. I do hope that special occurs for you.
I recently watched People of Earth, which was about abductees and was totally wonderful. Unfortunately, it was supposed to have been renewed, and then the renewal was cancelled. The truly bad part about that was that the final episode was clearly leading to lots of additional plot complications, but since it ended, there was a LOT unresolved.
I could name several other series that got cancelled and leaving the viewers completely out on a limb. It's infuriating.

(10,135 posts)Was there a season 8? It really grows on you. Old Jonny Quest fan and enjoyed the satire.
