Hi I have been reading and following DU since 2016, I am a respiratory therapist for 30 years , 53 y

Old, and a moderate Democrat, I’m not a one issue voter as I am a pro life, but I care for all immigrants as I am one and became citizen 25yrs ago, I hated the family separation and demonizing all other people. I loved reading DU for 4 yrs, it made me stronger and full of hope. My advice to everyone is keep the faith and hope that we will see the true America that we all loved and respect ✊

all along.

trump and his cronies are trying desperately to hold onto their illegally gains, but it will be to no avail. A large majority of America (the true 'silent majority') has woke up, and is truly repulsed by trump and his cronies' antics. In November, 2020 (and I hope you'll vote too then) the nightmare will start to end, and in Jan. 2021, Mr. Biden will be our new president. Thank god.

Welcome to DU.

I never thought this was going to be possible...but its happened. My very conservative, white, suburban mom friend in Atlanta has flipped and all in on Biden/Harris. Miracles do happen...this has given me a ray of hope amongst so many other hard things to digest around us

"pro life" is not the correct term, "anti choice" is.
Those who are pro life, are against war as a solution, against the death penalty, and in favor of a woman's right to choose, i.e the right to safely terminate a pregnancy (no wire hangers).
Abortion is a traumatic event, and no one is pro abortion. You have the right to be anti choice, of course, but please use the correct term.
You might disagree with me, but I hope you can look at it with an open mind.

The Republicans only claim to be pro-life when all they are is anti-abortion, or anti-choice, as you say. It blows me away that the Christian hard-right has backed away from the entire message of Jesus, which the Democratic platform does far better with, for the sake of this one issue.

To my mind, the greatest illusions that plague humanity are the lust for power, the lust for wealth and the lust for eternal youth. We can't have any of those, you know, but we can eschew them and start planning for the sake of our species and this planet.

A person like myself can be pro-choice and also be pro-life. As they say, "it's complicated" but the bottom line for me is that no one has the right to make reproductive decisions for a woman except the woman herself. A downside to living in a free society is that one must accept choices other people make for themselves even if you totally disagree with their choice.
