on Netflix. It's a documentary about how a man formed a kind of friendship with a wild octopus over the course of a year. He became very fond of her, and she recognized him and let him hold her. These are amazingly intelligent animals.

(34,095 posts)but I am afraid it will make me cry. Ya know, one day she does not show up and he keeps going back but she is gone. I cannot take any of that right now. I find myself skipping chapters in books or leaving the room when something like that is sure to happen in a movie. These days have made me into a blubbering baby.

(115,587 posts)She has some very close calls with sharks but she lives a full octopus life - it's just that normal octopus lives are short. I, too, can't handle sad animal stories but this documentary was so fascinating because it showed how these animals live and how smart they are. It was also enlightening for the man who befriended her.

(34,095 posts)I might just put it on a list of "whenever I can feel better I want to watch".
I used to scuba dive. We did not see octopus very often but once in a while and once I saw a big one who sped off in a cloud of ink. I watched one fight an eel for a space in a reef. It was really cool. I have a large heart for them.
I will either watch it soon or I will put in on a list. Thank you for letting me know. I just cannot let myself go into that sad funk right now. I think we all have a certain amount of that going on.
