I get the clawed arm treatment on what will be my own newly clawed arm.

Cats. They just suck you in till it's too late.

loves to be petted on his chest, but there will be a line I must not cross, where chest becomes belly.

But as soon as he has clawed, he apologizes by licking my damaged arm. If I don't pull away, in fact, the clawing won't do any damage, because he's a gentle boy, but it's hard to go suddenly still when the claws come out!

and come to think of it, of all of the male cats we've had, most have been gentle, unlike most of the females.

Still, gotta have kitties and/or doggies, can't imagine being without.

they don't always warn though

my mum's big cat rolled on his back purring so I started petting his tummy and then he went into full attack mode

when I complained to my mum about the resulting hieroglyphics on my arms she said, "OH, you can't rub his stomach, he HATES that."

I felt very DECEIVED! Not even a tail warning.

Well, ‘lap’ isn’t entirely the right word.

He insists on pushing my legs apart when I’m in the recliner. I call him ‘Crotch Kitty.’ If he decides to attack, I will be permanently disabled.

I thought his behavior odd until my daughter told me her cat does the same. I’ve had probably ten cats and this is the first one I’ve had to exhibit this behavior.

So far he has only injured my legs when he uses them to vault himself away.

No pun intended, but it's like their wanting to be in a box or other container.

7. That cat is so content. A wagging tail is not ALWAYS a sign of irritation or imminent attack.

Mine does it when I talk to her and when we cuddle.
