You know you're in a weird time when...

My husband is staring outside, getting excited about getting a little wind. We’ve been choking on hazardous air quality in Portland. Seeing the leaves move even just a little provides hope that this dense smoke inversion that we’re experiencing is hopefully breaking up. The news is telling us not until Thursday into Friday will things get better.

We have wind but the smoke remains in place. It's been hard to limit my time outside, there's so much to be done to start prepping for winter which happens overnight around here.

I was happy to see that my hummingbirds returned yesterday. Had to take down the feeder last Monday and Tuesday due to the gale-force wind.

We’re in Raleigh Hills section of Portland. Every morning I do a 2 to 4 mile walk on the Fanno Creek trail. The trail has been deserted for the last 5 days. After my walk, even wearing a mask, my eyes and throat burn. I’m done with the walks until the air quality improves.
