Dave Grohl upgrades his drum battle with 10-year-old prodigy with a superhero salute

A drumroll, please, for the latest development in the epic rock battle between Dave Grohl and Nandi Bushell.

For the second round of their ongoing drum-off, the Foo Fighters frontman wrote and performed an all-new tune dedicated to his 10-year-old opponent, who challenged Grohl last month with a flawless cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Everlong.”

“Every superhero needs a theme song,” Grohl tweeted from the Foo Fighters account Monday. “Here’s one for you!”

Enter Grohl on the drums and lead vocals, with help from the “Grohlettes” (who appear to be Grohl’s three daughters) on background vocals.

Both of them.

I don't even care much for Foo Fighters, but Dave Grohl is a hero. I live near his birthplace of Warren, Ohio and when they dedicated an alley in his name, I laughed at the prospect that he'd show up here. I sure ate those words. The next year he rode in on his Harley for Record Store Day at my friend's independent record store. He did an impromptu concert with members of the band and signed autographs at no charge.

I don't know how Nandi kept a dry eye through that. I didn't.

Whatta guy! Thanx for posting.

And then Dave responded (with Nandi's reaction)

I somehow missed this young lady before. She is really good. She puts out an infectious level of energy.

It reminds me of seeing School of Rock on Broadway. From the minute the kids started playing, the energy just ratcheted up. It was fun.

Thanks for posting that

Nandi and David have a connection! Dave knows how to entertain the young ladies as he has three daughters of his own.

He is a treasure of not just Rock and inducted in 2014 Rock & Roll Hall. Watch his original "Everlong " video and you can catch his weird sense of wackiness, but clean fun. It was one of my favorite songs, he writes, sings, plays guitar, and drums.

He claims not to have any social media accounts (hard to believe with three daughters) and has a delightful sense of playfulness and humor that sort akin to Bill Murray. His fame was sealed with his stint with NIrvana and just keeps it turned on. Great down-to-earth great guy by all accounts.
