I didn't know they could talk like parrots though.

(3,626 posts)It's physically easier for them. You don't see it much because, being native species, it's illegal to keep them as pets in the US; a captive crow is generally a rescue and you need a permit. Starlings are also corvidae though and it is legal to keep them; for a few years we had a pet starling we rescued as a fledgling from a team of cats. He didn't learn to talk because we never worked with him but he did imitate the music we played when we sat in the screen house with him and the other birds.

(10,872 posts)The crows left, but I'm amazed by the ravens. Their conversations with each other are lots of fun to listen to.
