The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSaw someone with a mask pulled down to chin at the docs office
Pointed her out to a nurses aide, and the aide turned and walked away without a word.
When the aide came back a couple minutes later, she deliberately pulled her mask down while she was taking my vitals. I didnt say a word to her. She pulled the mask back up properly before the doc came in.
I told the doc, who had me talk to the practice manager.
These anti mask assholes really make me angry. Im sure nothing will happen to the aide.
I hate that a simple measure to save lives has become such a political thing.
Im still so angry I am shaking.

(1,250 posts)I said nothing to the lady not wearing a mask at all but told the mgr. He said something to her and her response was that she had a medical excuse and the mgr told me that the conversation is over when that excuse is used. SO, anyone can say what she did. I just have to walk away from these nutjobs.

(2,636 posts)If a person's has a medical condition (they don't) that precludes mask wearing in a grocery store for all of twenty minutes, then that person really ought to take advantage of curbside.
Two heart attacks and about 50% cardio function. Exercise induced asthma. and a mask does not interfere at all.
We have got to report to management in house, and Regional managers outside, and corporate HQ. Phone, email, hard copy letter. Photos, details, and what percentage of Radical AntiMa Maskholes.
I've begun to tell the dick-nosers I am still testing positive as I cough all over the place behind my mask. If they can lie, so can I. And every one of those big, tough, medical condition prevents me from wearing a mask pulls it right up. We should be well past this if we mandated masks in public from March through June.
I phucking *hate* them.

(2,636 posts)After I cough behind the mask, I say it's a nuisance, of course, but I have respect for my fellow man.
Polite, and focused on my actions, not theirs. When you say, I do this because I respect you, their choice is to continue to be a dick nose, or grow the phuck up. Guy actually said, later, after he'd thought about it, "Oh, I resect you..." Sure you do, DN.

I would report the doctor to the local health department or whoever is over him that he has to answer to.
It is no different than if they didn't wash their hands before touching you. It is disgusting and dangerous.
OR you can give him a bad Google review. That gets people moving I have found.

If it were my practice, I would fire the aide who did that, as I would fire anyone mistreating patients, but its not my call, obviously.

(22,181 posts)Or wearing it improperly. Don't see many non-maskers now in my little corner of southern KY, but when I do, I glare and take a wide berth around them. My husband does theatrics--face turned away, arms protectively over his head, and running. It certainly gets attention!

(12,265 posts)Both of them insist that you remain in your car until they come out to get you. They check your temperature, make sure your mask is secure and make a point of telling you that if you remove your mask at any time during the visit you will have to leave and be charged for the office visit. I have seen some not happy, one was hollering in the parking lot, the nurse was very calm, she told him that he was free to find another physician. He put on his mask.

(1,336 posts)Same situation with my doctor's medical clinic. Except we have a number to call to let the receptionist know we are at the door. The main door is locked and we are instructed to enter via one door on one side of the building, and exit out another door on the other side. This is in Ontario.
Can't remember the last time I saw someone not wearing a mask. Oh, it must have been the third week of March

(3,407 posts)Excuse me for saying this, I fight about this with members of my family. WE MUST SPEAK OUT, we cannot remain quiet, she should have been exposed for her actions right in front of the Dr.
First, I would have told her to put her mask on, and if she refused I would call the Dr. I would have not allowed her to touch me without her mask on. Then I would have told the Dr about the incident, and then I would have spoken to the practice manager.
Make sure that she cannot be a jack ass, at least at work. We need to make these jack asses accountable for their actions.

Former nurse here, there is no rationale or excuse for exposing anyone to the virus in a medical facility. The patients are vulnerable, the staff is vulnerable because of constant potential exposure...I'd be going apeshit.

Mine still have us wait in the car, call us in to pvt room when ready (my oncologist office even takes vitals and blood outside first at a table they have set up - waiting room is not used!), administer chemo or whatever calls for in-person necessity, and get us out as quickly as possible. Each one is like that. Oh, and they don't just wear masks, but N95s.
The sort of disregard from medical staff you encountered is alarming. I hope you follow-up on the excellent reporting advice.
