You likely fancied yourself a fashionisto/a and so much flashier than Leisuresuit Larry, the Sharkskined Greaser, or the Dirty Dancer, LOL! What's the bigger question, in your free time mind's eye, did you EVER see Charlie Manson looking back in the full-length mirror?

But hey - teen-age HS back-to-school shopping was always a hassle, but I can remember wearing a wool navy herringbone shift jumper of mini-length with a deep Chelsea collar (British music inspired) and a long-sleeved p***y-bowed blouse or "oxford shirt" and narrow long tie with the white go-go boots or the date-night worthy sheer-sleeved white bowed blouse and a pink Mohair cardigan sweater over a short black pencil skirt with black patent 3" heels that had bows at the back. Everybody had an "alpaca" sweater (it was a style, not a fabric) and a wool pea coat to wear with their A-line wide-corduroy and wide belted mini-skirt and oxford button-down and leather flats to school. Can't quite remember, but backpacks were uncool or non-existent (who would offer to carry them-LOL!) Solid white sneakers, usually Keds, were only for phys ed class. Big hair teased after sleeping in brush rollers and lots of AquaNet spray. Not exactly preppy, but I always strived for balance...LOL!

I never owned a pair of Levi's, jeans, or anything denim at all until after marriage. DH usually wore Banlon polos, shirts tucked in perhaps with an open sweater vest, black stretchy socks, dress slacks and high-polished wingtips! Nerdy, then, very short hair that hardly needed buzzed off when he was drafted.
