The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHi everybody. It's been a while since I've been here.
CaliforniaPeggy informed me that some of you were wondering how Im doing nowadays, so I thought Id pop in and say hi.
I am doing better than ever despite the hardships now facing our nation. Im still a Democrat and I always will be. But Im more interested in spirituality than politics now and that is the reason I dont post here anymore.
However, I do post on Facebook. If you would like to friend me over there my name is Tobin Swafford and Im from Richmond, Indiana. If you send a friend request, shoot me a PM as well and let me know that you are from DU.
But be forewarned- Im really far out there nowadays. I took a trip out past the Van Allen belt and kept right on truckin. This is a different kind of spirituality than you are probably familiar with. So if you think you can tolerate that, Ill see you over there. I also occasionally post about politics, but not very often.

(4,261 posts)Good to see you are well. It's been a long time since you posted in another group just after you changed your handle from something -oopy Droopy? Snoopy? I can't remember.
Anyhow, I've read your posts about your struggles now and then and I'm glad things are working for you.
ps: Politics on FB? you never know with friends how they react. Have to be ready for consequences if you come out as Democratic.

(10,418 posts)Regarding politics on Facebook, everybody who knows me in real life knows I'm a Democrat. When I do take a political tone, it's in more of a general kind of way, if that makes sense. I usually don't ruffle too many feathers. But I rarely even do that over there.

(16,844 posts)If I still did Facebook I would check you out, but I gave it up years ago. The direction you're going now sounds interesting and I wish I could read about what you're into now. There are several different categories of religion forums here and you ought to consider posting in one or more of those forums. I still check out those forums occasionally, although I rarely comment in them anymore. If you decide to post something over there let us know. It's always nice to ponder something different.

(10,418 posts)When I really got turned on to spirituality and started posting about it here, I caught a lot of flack for it. Maybe things have changed, and people here are more tolerant of that now. I don't know. I just know that it really soured me on the place.
Besides, if you want to talk politics, that's what this place is really about. I'm just not as interested in that as I used to be.

(4,261 posts)I try and keep my trap shut about it outside the Atheist/Agnostic and Religion groups. You can catch some serious blowback when you question "Traditional" Religion.
I try and keep it at "live and let live" levels. I'm an "Agnostic Atheist", I freely admit that I could well be in error, do your best to live by your values.

Honestly, I think I could use a break from politics, but it continues draw me in. It's like a damn addiction! :Sigh:
I don't have a FaceBook account, so I won't see you over there, but it is nice to know that you are doing well.
Take care!
