damn i cant wait to go. planning a trip there this winter.
but not until i get my dual citizenship. and until i finish my family tree.
gonna try to track down the family places, including the farm they stole from my great grandpa.

my grandpa was born in the town of kinnity, in the midlands. there is a kinnity castle, that is a b&b. gonna stay there.
the midlands is where the farmers went when they got pushed off their farms.

would never speak to it. she was the second generation and that was just not "done." I've traced as much as possible via Ancestry, but hit a dead-end that would require me to pay a genealogist to research.

I have always regretted that neither my deceased father-- nor his late siblings were apparently interested, so the information just died with all of them.

made a great book that she gave to everyone.
not sure how many still have their copy, but i do. pics and everything.
funny bit was my great grandma was black irish. tho she was born in ireland my aunt noted that she 'was english'

but my mom's side, yeah. she didnt even know. found out on ancestry that half the clan stayed in new york. she died thinking her brother's 3 kids and their kids were the only family she had.
the funny bit- they settled in the bronx. my middle kid is named after my mom and grandma, and w their last name as her middle name.
since irish americans have an average of 10k cousins, i told her if she meets anyone w that last name, they are def her cousins. she doesnt listen to a word i say, tho.
