Looks like hubby got a bad reaction to the flu shot.

We both got a flu shot yesterday. Mine was a tiny prick. I noticed the doc went out of the office to get another shot for my hubby, and his injection had more fluid.

Last night, hubby experienced chills. He got up for breakfast, but he's back in bed. He never does that.

I'd be curious as to why your injection was minimal, while your husband's was more substantial. Fla Dem Sep 2020 #4

That's actually the vaccine working the way it's supposed to, to stimulate the production of viral antibodies.

Most people don't get a symptomatic response. And the ones who do end up thinking "The flu shot gave me the flu".

Standard of care in these cases is treat the symptoms. He'll be all right soon.

Is the amount of vaccine injected related to weight?

I can’t take it, because I had increasing reactions the first several times I got it. I didn’t get flu like symptoms, though. Rather it was severe swelling, redness, and heat from wrist to shoulder. I’ve been taking regular dose since, and I’m fine.

I got it a week ago and couldn't sleep for more than a few minutes at a time because the pain in my arm was overwhelming. I also just felt crappy for about 24 hours.

Just had a jarring moment when I slept on my arm last night, but that was it.

There are two different formulas based on age.

Image result for flu shot for seniors
What type of vaccine is recommended for seniors? The high-dose flu shot. For the 2020-2021 flu season, adults over age 65 should get either the Fluzone High-Dose vaccine or the flu vaccine with adjuvant (brand name FLUAD).
