I have a rather bratty/aggressive tortie who likes to be the top cat-- I have thought about adopting a kitten in hopes that she might calm Roxie (the pushy tortie) down.

Any thoughts?

not girl and girl even if spayed. They tend to at some point try to see who is boss. Boys do not seem as aggressive when they go through that stage as long as they are neutered. For females it is not a stage. You also want to get a kitten that shows signs of not backing down but is not aggressive. Two aggressive do not work. Now, of course that is my experience and someone might have had different but there is my two cents worth.😺
