My husband has a fever of 102 and I'm nervous. He is a

General Manager at a restaurant and my fear the last few months is him coming in contact with a Covid positive person and getting it. One of his employees actually tested positive about 2 months ago but thank goodness no one else got it.
He has had a headache and a bit of nausea the last two or 3 days but we both got our flu shot on Friday so he thought maybe it was that. But today the fever started and has been climbing all day.
We went online and reserved a testing spot with the county for Thursday AM which was the first available. It was the same place he got tested when his employee got sick. Back then it took 7 days to get his result. I'm hoping results come in faster now.

I hope you get a quick result and that he’ll be okay.

I know how it feels, my son was sick back in May and because he is young (29) he couldn’t even get a test. Not enough available, they said.

But the old viruses that cause the same symptoms are still out there. They first few weeks of school they always make the rounds.

and tell them he needs a rapid test NOW. If they don't have the rapid tests, perhaps they can tell you where both of you can get one. Do not wait an additional day.

In my county, it's free without insurance too-- the county health dept are picking up the fee.

Anyway, this isn't super-accurate, but comes back quick. It's a drive-in situation.

It's not in every town, but there are 3 in my city, so maybe there's one your husband can go to before Thurs.

Also you might get a pulse oximeter that can check the 02 levels-- under 94 with a fever might mean hospitalization is in order.

I hope you find out it's just another virus.

Also, the swab doesn't go all the way into your brain cavity, it only went up about one inch. Take Vit D and self-isolate (both of you) until you get the results.

It should be 94% or above to be normal. If it's 92% or below something's going on. Keep monitoring that O2 level. If it goes below 90% go to ER.

my husband and son both work in food service and they keep having outbreaks. My son has tested 4 times in the last 3 months, because he was exposed, he's a server. One positive, he but he was asymptomatic. Not sure where you live, but here in Ohio CVS offers free drive up testing, results in 48 hours. They tell you 2-5 days but so far it's always been 48 hours or less. Good Luck!

Don’t assume you already have caught it. Anyway the viral load matters.
Really hope you are both well.

Consider some zinc.

Zinc. Vitamin D. For sure, take regular readings from a pulse oximeter. Get one at Walgreens or CVS. Figure out which is the best hospital you can get him to. Write his oxygen levels and temps in good record keeping. Take him in if his oxygen drops below 94. Best wishes.

If you have some way of cooling him down, do so. Ice packs, frozen peas, cold bath. Good luck.

Certainly is indicative of some kind of infection, even if he is negative as far as the corona virus.

Especially working in a restaurant, definitely in the "stay home" zone, and consulting his physician in probably in his future.

I didn't feel that great after my flu shot last fall for a day or so, but I didn't hit 102.

Get well soon.
