Visa.
Generally, I say Vee-ssa for the credit card.
And Vee-zah for the diplomatic document.
Anyone else?
Or is it just me?

(56,077 posts)Visa itself doesn't issue cards or extend credit. Banks do that. Visa just provides branding, marketing, and behind the scene services.

(56,077 posts)Pronouncing different words the same inherently risks unnecessary confusion. And I did note that Wikipedia seems to think both pronunciations are acceptable for the brand name.
But historically, they were always the same word, and i believe I've only ever heard the "ss" version in commercials. Not that I've listened to commercials in ages....
