My 104 year old 2nd cousin just passed away.

She lived in the same house, on the side of a Maryland mountain, for most of her life. I am glad I got to know her.

Her daughter is 80. Imagine having your mother in your life for that many years.

Anyway, I'll lift a glass to Emma, tonight.

to her, but she must have been one strong woman and you we lucky to have her all those years. What stories she must have had. Would love to hear some of them.

(3 months shy) right before tRump was elected. She was a life long Dem and that would have killed her if she lived long enough to see it. She loved to piss off her neighbors in FL with her yard signs. If they said anything she would go off on them in Italian. She had spunk.

Wow, 104 years. It sounds like she had a full life.

I have a great uncle who lived to be 105 1/2. How close was your cousin to 105?

Also, are you clear about the proper labeling for cousins? If she was your 2nd cousin then that means that you each had a parent who was 1st cousins with each other. If she was the 1st cousin of your parent then she was your 1st cousin once removed. I am only telling you because many people are unclear or confused about that.

And, admittedly, this whole degree of cousin thing confuses me. She was my grandmothers niece, so my father's first cousin. I think (but am not positive) that makes her my 2nd cousin.

Her daughter is your 2nd cousin.

A 2nd cousin is someone who has a parent that was 1st cousins with your parent.
