i think the first time i saw "it's a wonderful life" i think all i noticed was that uncle billy had a squirrel AND a crow.
my da had a pair of pet squirrels as a kid. micky and nicky. lordie i loved those stories.
but yeah. crows. starlings, too. and it's legal to own those.

I am a huge fan of all corvids. We've raised a couple of wounded scrub jays, so I know what that relationship is like (to an extent). I adore them and talk to them in the yard all the time. We don't have any ravens in the neighborhood, but we do have jays, crows, and magpies.

This is true of all native American bird species. However starlings, which were introduced and are considered a pest species, are legal. We had one for a few years which we rescued as a flightless fledgling from some cats. He didn't learn to talk but he did enthusiastically mimic bits of music we would play around him.
