(9,656 posts)I love love letters. And that movie is an absolute Love Letter to Star Trek.

(15,187 posts)This is one of those movies that I had heard about and never seen - like Princess Bride.
Then I GOT it!
Love this movie.

(4,261 posts)Pity Tim Allen is a total tool.
Dem2theMax
(9,656 posts)I can't stand him. But I sure do laugh at him in Galaxy Quest.
Short little clip to bring a smile to our faces.

(4,261 posts)Alan Rickman, sigh. I miss him so :'(

(9,656 posts)my heart melts and breaks at the same time.
Gone way too soon. Damned cancer.

(15,187 posts)And my daughters thought I was nuts because they knew him as Snape.
Wonderful actor. And yes, gone WAY too soon.
Dem2theMax
(9,656 posts)but it was the movie Truly, Madly, Deeply that made my heart absolutely melt when I saw him.
I haven't seen that movie in years. It's hardly ever on anywhere.
leftieNanner
(15,187 posts)I will need to go find that one.
Thanks.

"Why a spoon, cousin?"
"Because it's dull, your twit! It'll hurt more!"
He was always a joy to watch and listen to.

PirateRo
(933 posts)It pokes great fun at Star Trek, the actors and the fandom, especially that bathroom scene. People deny it today but it took place at an early con on MYC.

(22,196 posts)The humor, the cast, all of it. Lost track of how many times I've watched it, and laugh every time. Always thought it was interesting that Sigourney Weaver went from the Alien movies to this sci fi!
I might have to pick Amazon Prime back up to see the doc.

(9,656 posts)Every part of Galaxy Quest is the best part of Galaxy Quest! Can't pick a favorite scene.
uriel1972
(4,261 posts)Perfect casting, spot on writing, a loving send up of Trek, a backpack full of memes
"five curtain calls, and it exploded, it's the simple things in life you treasure, why is it always ducts, at least he's outside"
My favorite scene is one that was deleted: Dr Lazarus is shown his quarters.
Dem2theMax
(9,656 posts)Dr. Lazarus being shown his quarters. I remember seeing the part with the 'bed,' but I must not have seen the entire clip before.
Alan Rickman had some sort of magic inside. It didn't matter what line he spoke, or the face he made, it was all perfection.
sarge43
(28,946 posts)His expression when he sees the toilet. Thanks to the passage of the popcorn, my sinuses still haven't recovered.
Dem2theMax
(9,656 posts)"I see you've managed to get your shirt off."
The way Rickman says it, it just slays me.

(1,851 posts)And for those of us that would rather cut off a hand than send more money to Amazon, both are available to rent or buy on the Apple TV/Movie store
The documentary: Never Surrender
The movie: Galaxy Quest
Dem2theMax
(9,656 posts)I don't have Apple TV.
(And unfortunately, I'm living in a rural area, without a car, during a pandemic. So I'm having to rely on Amazon. Believe me, once life sort of gets back to normal, I will be shopping elsewhere! After I get a car.)
CloudWatcher
(1,851 posts)Just to clear up a tiny misunderstanding .. the Apple TV/Movie store (aka the iTunes store) isn't just for use with the Apple TV hardware. It can also be used with Macs and iPads and iPhones.
I'd just wanted to point out that the documentary wasn't exclusive to Amazon. Now time to go watch it! Thanks again for the post
