Just got a call from my step-daughter. My granddaughter is filling out her first ballot!

They just called me for some advice on local races, races where two Democrats are running, and races where the incumbent is running un-opposed.

Also local tax levies and referenda.

I'm so excited! My granddaughter is part of the youth Blue Wave!

Just praying that my stepson in Dayton votes Blue this time. He didn't vote for Trump in 2016. He's much too sweet-natured to ever do something like that. But he's too politically naïve not to understand that not voting for Hillary was voting for Trump.

This time, I hope he votes for Biden. I think he will. He and Joe Biden are two thoroughly decent human beings.

She's grown into a fine young woman.

Our relationship is a little tangled. She's my step-daughter's step-daughter. But she calls me grandpa, so that's that.

I first met her when she was six. She was so shy, she peeked at me from behind her father's legs.

The second time we met, she let out a delighted shriek, and jumped into my arms.

I don't have any children of my own, so it's nice to be a kind of surrogate father...
