Snooker!

The 2020-21 snooker season is underway in the UK -- in empty theaters -- and I just found out a few days ago that it's now possible to watch live on the matchroom.live website, for a fee. I got hooked on watching snooker on YouTube a couple of years ago, but up til now, there wasn't any way to watch live snooker in the U.S. -- in fact, you can't even watch any videos on UK sports sites to see highlights. Since I've pretty much burned my way through YouTube during the pandemic, I'm gladly paying $3.99 to watch the final stages of the BetVictor Championship League tournament all week long!

used to play it all the time. I don't actually remember the rules all that well. Massed quantities of beer and weed were usually involved. I remember it was fun though.

... which is why it's so fascinating to me to watch the pros make it look easy.

Fun fact: The #1 ranked snooker player in the world right now is named Trump -- Judd Trump. (Another fun fact: I've never once heard any snooker commentator make any comment whatsoever about that fact, presumably out of basic human decency.) Trump won in his group today, and he is fun to watch, but my favorite, Ronnie O'Sullivan, decided to skip this tournament.

... matchroom.live has On Demand videos for various sports including snooker and pool that don't require a subscription and don't have annoying ads popping up randomly.
