I don't think Norbert lived a long life. She only had him for about eight years.

I had never heard of Norbert and the post made me think it was someones dog who had passed away, using the pass tense was a good dog.
Your response let me know he is a celebrity. So looked him up. Hes still alive, or at least there is no announcement of his death.
