Lets not make a saint of Sean Connery, shall we? He thinks giving a woman a good slap is just fine. And 22 years after he said that, he told Barbara Walters he hadnt changed his opinion. Fuck this guy.

Feeling revulsion for a sexist does not require watching a film.

(4,602 posts)He said some stupid shit. He also acted in lots of roles I enjoyed. And years later he did recant this statement.
Ill continue to watch his movies. Ill continue to appreciate his craft. I dont care how this makes you feel.

(9,033 posts)Men wanted to be like him. Women wanted to go to bed with him. He redefined the action hero. He redefined on-screen masculinity. He was the blueprint for a thousand other actors. He made James Bond the most successful franchise of all time. He proved to be gifted as an actor in many diverse roles (including an Oscar). He gave millions to charity, including his entire earnings from Diamonds Are Forever ($20m in today's money). I'm not going to let something he said in an interview that he may or may not have been serious about taint my opinion of his success, from bricklayer and coffin polisher and to international superstar.

(3,301 posts)I wasn't about to dip my toes on the Connery is da bomb threads.
I recall an SNL parody they did with the game show Jeopardy. The actor who played Sean Connery as a contestant pronounced therapist as the rapist.
So yeah, his not so good reputation with the ladies proceeded him.
