Just saw a couple of varied thrushes

They were on my roof- I was upstairs and there is a section of the first floor that doesn’t go to the second so I can see the first floor roof from an upstairs window. Very up close- like 2 feet away through the glass window.

Two of them were up there, picking through the leaves. I spotted one a couple of days ago too and had no idea what they were. We’ve lived here for almost 20 years and have never seen them in the yard. I guess they pass through here in late October/early November.

Since each day is so much like the last, it’s nice to have some visual variety.

Interesting! I did find a link to our local Audubon page that said they come through here this time of year.

Their call is one note loud, I hear them more in the spring when they are migrating North. Congratulations on spotting and id-ing them.

to leave a window open, so only visual pleasure from this one.

We have a lot of tohees (*not* a pretty bird call) and finches and of course the occasional robin.
