An alligator will try to kill/eat you - given the chance, its level of hunger, if there are eggs, how threatened it feels, but mostly they try to avoid humans.

Definitely eat your pet though. Idiots walk their dogs near alligator ponds here all the time - and they know better.

One ran off and jumped into a nearby bayou. A moma gator was there, guarding her eggs. It did not end well.

A joke on the thread - "how fast can it run, asking for a friend" "A: Whichever one of you is slower".

favorite places for photography. Just keep a safe distance.

People tend to make such jokes when they are around them. We all laugh a little nervously. But we all keep one eye on the water's edge.

You ever get the chance to walk or drive the Creole Nature Trail, do it. The wildlife is wonderful to see - even the gators.

He's got a bit of a humped back, thus the name. I saw him in the water - while most gators disappear except for their eyes and snout, Humpy's back sticks up out of the water, too.
