Any experts on Japanese fictional style?

I'm going to call it a style, for lack of a better word. I'm not sure genre is the right choice. We saw Spirited Away years ago, and loved it. Definitely could see how something that was animated could also have adult appeal.

But now I'm watching something that appears to be directly geared to adults, and I'm having trouble keeping up with the story of jellies and other group-mind altering beings. The show is called the School Nurse Files. Not sure what to make of it. Sometimes I think that there's a larger, brilliant statement being made about how we get manipulated by what's going on around us. And then, other times, I think it's just a free ride into someone else's creative mind. Maybe it's both.

I’ll put it on my list.

BTW, Have you watched Midnight Diner and Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories? It is a beautiful series about a dive diner in a working class neighborhood in Tokyo and the regulars who hang out there. It is a deep look at Japanese culture.
