(1,323 posts)Not only happy that humans did something good, but that the animals are being saved! Yep, a bit weepy. A great break from all the noise.

(12,503 posts)Utah DWR should have kept the news quiet. Poachers know where to take a buck, bear, or moose and will stake it out for an easy kill, while avoiding wildlife monitoring video cameras.

(102,225 posts)I still remember seeing the usual migration of elk across 6th Avenue and seeing cars not even slowing down. It upset the hell out of me.

(16,370 posts)Even if you're a big enough jerk to not care about the animals, that's just crazy. We don't have elk where I live, but we have plenty of white tailed deer, and hitting one of those guys can easily total a car. (Ask me how I know. ) Elk are waayyy bigger than white tails. I can't imagine not driving super cautiously around critters that size. I guess some people are just idiots.
hlthe2b
(102,225 posts)elk crossing, though not as elaborate as the one depicted in the OP it does work. Before, there were instances of motor vehicle v elk disasters during their annual migration along foothills up into the mountains.

(10,828 posts)What a great and creative idea. That wildlife overpass will save a lot of lives, animal and human. inadvertently hitting one of those large animals in your car is a likely death sentence.
Again, Bravo.
Caring for our wildlife. What a wild idea!

Hope there are some underpasses too, for the smaller animals that like to stick close to the ground.

(1,945 posts)It's over the 101, out around the Calabasas area. I don't know if they have actually broken ground yet but it's been planned for several years already. The mtn lion freeway deaths have been a big catalyst for getting this approved. And I agree, more than one would be much better.
